First Line Friday...Justin

First Line Friday

The idea is we'll all share
(unedited) snippets from one of our
current Works In Progress or a previous release.
Sometimes it will be the first line.
Sometimes it will be a little excerpt.
It will depend on what's inspiring me Thursday night. ;)

Today, I'm pulling out the first line of Justin
It's all about the coffee for the first part of this book.

Tara Malone is having one of those lives. Born to Oscar award-winning actor, Anthony Malone, and model-famous beauty, Veronica Scott, she should have it made. But her curvy figure and out-of-control frizzy red hair are just the start of her many, many issues. Now to make matters worse, she’s started out her week by running over model, Justin James, with her car. She had a lot of fantasies about the cover model, but never did any of them include vehicular assault.

Justin James doesn’t have time for two broken wrists, but neither does his over-achieving family. He can’t open up his fridge or unzip his fly without excruciating pain and no one else has the time to help him. Tara already shot him down at the accident scene, but maybe he can work this so that the curvy bombshell has a reason to hang around for a bit. He’s not above using guilt if it means he gets to know her better.

The first in a new series of novellas inspired by Shauna Kruse’s photography and her beautiful male models.

The Male Model Chronicles.

Disclaimer: The Male Model Chronicles, a new fictional series, built around the real-life world of Kruse Images & Photography and the gorgeous male models that Shauna Kruse gets to immortalize in her photos. The heroes are real people who also happen to be male models, but every single other thing about the series is fiction.

Tagline Tuesday: Justin

Hello, again...welcome to my new Tuesday feature...Tagline Tuesdays.

The idea...I'll share a quick tagline from one of my books. It could be about the book, the series, or even about one of the characters. I plan to have fun with this throughout the year. Hopefully, you'll like the tiny glimpses into the story lines, too.

Today, I'm sharing a tagline from Justin. This was the first in the Male Model Chronicles series and if you can't tell from the tagline, this is one of those books that was pure fun to write. It's straight contemporary romance with a pretty light, fun, entertaining story.

Rambling... a (sometimes) regular post plus a GIVEAWAY.

Okay, I'm going to try to make this a regular thing.
Like twice a month, maybe.
We'll see.

This is simply an update blog post with...
*where upcoming releases are at in the writing/publishing process
*an occasionally random rambling
*and sometimes a GIVEAWAY (hint: this post has one of those so keep reading.)

So, for writing...

It's been a productive month...

So far this month...

*I finished the first draft of Allied in Flight (bk #2 in the Through the Veil series)
*Now, I'm working on Rejecting Destiny (bk #3 in TTV series) and hope to make a big dent in it before the end of the month, so there's not such a long wait between books.

I have some big announcements to come with this series (keep watching) as well as cover reveals which my graphic designer is working on right now.
(Hint: they are so gorgeous! I can't wait to share them.)

Also...
*Joshua...is done...and it needs work. I'm also debating some things with how to move forward with this series, so this particular book may be delayed a couple of months.

*I have several other projects in the works. December will be my play month (i.e. I'm going to write on what inspires me and not worry about deadlines...because I'm the boss, so I can do that). But I do plan to keep writing the entire month.

So...
Want to know about that giveaway?
I've been overwhelmed by your love and support for Tommy and Mac.

I love them so much, so it means a lot that you all love them too.

So, as a thank you, I'm giving away a Do Epic Shit key/necklace.

To be eligible, all you have to do is comment on this post and
...say hi
...or tell me what you're thankful for
...or tell me the last fantastic book you read.
Anything works.

Just comment and I'll pull a random winner from the commenters on Dec 1st.
(this is an international giveaway)

Note: Marah Johnson makes these gorgeous keys. You can find her...

Also, I'm slowly mailing out bookmarks. I ran out of envelopes and had a delay because I kept forgetting to buy them when I went to the store. So...bookmarks are coming if you've signed up with your mailing address on my newsletter list, right over there at the top of the right column.>>>

Have a great week, everyone!

First Line Friday...Artistic Desires (a random project in my files)

First Line Friday

The idea is we'll all share
(unedited) snippets from one of our
current Works In Progress or a previous release.
Sometimes it will be the first line.
Sometimes it will be a little excerpt.
It will depend on what's inspiring me Thursday night. ;)

Last night I was inspired to pull out something completely random. This is a story I started back in January. If you can't tell from the lines, it's filled with the kind of angst I love. Someday I'll sit down and finish it, because it's a fabulous tale about two artistic wounded souls who need one another.

First Line Friday: When Love Intrudes (take 2)

First Line Friday

The idea is we'll all share
(unedited) snippets from one of our
current Works In Progress or a previous release.
Sometimes it will be the first line.
Sometimes it will be a little excerpt.

A few weeks ago I shared the first true lines from the book, When Love Intrudes. But those lines were from the Prologue of the book. Today, I'm going to share the first line from Chapter One.

This was the fourth book in the When the Mission Ends series and it's also the book that kicked off the Snowcroft series. Several of the future heroes and the town of Snowcroft were featured in this book.

Toni Vincent’s last relationship ended with violence. Since then, she’s decided she’s better off without men. But when she finds her young seventeen year old neighbor, Nathan, unconscious and beaten, this is one man she can’t abandon. But helping Nathan means trusting Detective Brian Barnes, another man who hurt her in the past. It’s something she’s just not sure she can do.

Detective Brian Barnes has seen one too many criminals beat the system. He’s burned out and regretting a lot about his life. At the top of that list is how he dealt with Toni Vincent when he was wounded. At the time, he couldn't stand to look at himself, much less have someone he failed care for him. Now she needs his help and he refuses to fail her again. But keeping her alive requires keeping his heart out of it. Something not easy to do when trapped in a romantic mountain retreat, even if it is the safest place for Toni and her unexpected charge.

With danger around every corner, it’s hard to know who can be trusted, especially for three people who have been burned before. But they may just find the best family is the one not tied together by blood.

First Line Friday...Allied in Flight

For NaNoWriMo, this month is all about the Through the Veil series. I'm planning to write books #2 AND #3 this month. So for those of you that have been waiting for Griff's fate...he's coming and here's a tiny peek from his book, Allied in Flight

The first line of the book...

I don't have a cover to share for this book yet. (Keep watching this space though because I have some really fun announcements about that coming up.)

In the meantime, would you be interested in reading the back cover blurb???

Here it is...

A rescue gone wrong.

It was supposed to be simple. Four members from the Western States planned to sneak into the Eastern States to free four condemned Others. But when they arrived at the experimental labs where the Others were being held, it was under attack from Rebel forces.

Griff Hughes had one job...

He had to find Shar, a wounded hawk shifter. But in the ensuing chaos, he became a captive instead of a rescuer. Three days later he awakes in his own cage, alone. But during the nights, he’s not alone. An alluring redhead with a siren’s call visits his dreams, and his resistance is breaking down.

Shar McIntire is just trying to survive.

After three years in captivity, Shar has one goal...keep her and her sister alive. To do so means cooperating with the evil doctors who want her to seduce and manipulate Griff.  She likes and is drawn to the man with the strange chocolate wings, but she can’t let that attraction distract her. Savannah’s fate is in her hands.

In the last eighteen years, life hasn’t been easy for anyone.

The WS and the ES have been separate entities, but once the Veil was crossed, things began to evolve. It’s a new world, but that doesn’t mean things are going to get any easier in the near future.

Tagline Tuesday...Through the Veil

Hello, again...welcome to my new Tuesday feature...Tagline Tuesdays.

The idea...I'll share a quick tagline from one of my books. It could be about the book, the series, or even about one of the characters. I plan to have fun with this throughout the year. Hopefully, you'll like the tiny glimpses into the story lines, too.

Since November is ALL about writing books #2 and #3 in the Through the Veil series. I thought I'd start there...with book #1, which was appropriately called Through the Veil. (I'm creative that way.)

58 years ago a gorge opened up from Mobile, AL to Quebec City, Canada to split the United States into the Western States (WS) and the Eastern States (ES).
40 years later a fog rolled in on the WS that they called the Veil. Within twelve hours it formed an impenetrable wall between the two sides.
It’s been 18 years since anyone has known what’s happening on the other side of the Veil.
Now, Lori, an Other, in a desperate attempt at escape from the ES’s torture and experimentation, has crossed the Veil and found a world beyond belief.
Marcus is a Warrior, but when Lori collapses at his feet wounded and exhausted, he knows he has to protect her. But seeing that she’s the first person he’s seen in 18 years without wings, he’s worried about what her appearance means for his people and the world they’ve created since the Veil fell.
Two new societies: one built on a respect for the natural order of nature and the world, the other built on mistrust and corruption. Can they learn to co-exist once again?
