Sneak Peek from THROUGH THE VEIL....

Hi, all! It's been a long time, hasn't it? I'm so sorry about that (I've been really busy...four books are brewing in my brain right now all in varying stages of writing.) But because I've been neglecting you all, I thought I'd treat you to a sneak scene from THROUGH THE VEIL.

(BTW, don't get too attached to this cover. I think we may be changing it some.)

Just a bit of back ground for you on this. Marcus is the hero of the book. Lori is the heroine. Malcolm is a doctor and Marcus's brother and Brooklyn is his assistant. They've just put 127 stitches into Marcus's back and he has a slight issue with tolerance to drugs...i.e. he gets higher than a kite. The following (unedited) scene is the result:

She really was beautiful even with that frown on her face. Maybe he needed to cheer her up by finishing what they’d started at the waterfall. But, whoa, wait just a minute. He frowned down at the front of his pants where there was a definite lack of interest going on. What the hell? He’d been half hard ever since Lori fell into his arms at the bridge.

His mortified gaze met Malcolm’s. Malcolm was immediately worried about his distress. “What’s wrong?”

He waved Malcolm over to him and then turned them away from the girls for a guy pow-wow.  “Mal, I don’t have an erection,” he whispered urgently, but it must not have been quiet enough because he heard Brooklyn snicker.

Malcolm frowned at him confused. “Um, okay? I wouldn’t really expect you to have one right now.”

He didn’t understand. This was serious. “No, I always have one when Lori is around.”

This time Brooklyn didn’t even try to quiet her loud laugh and he heard her mumble, “This is so unfair that this falls under patient confidentiality.”

He turned to scowl at her, but was distracted by Lori’s sweet indulgent smile. She was so beautiful. He looked down. Again…nothing. He turned a desperate look to Malcolm to find him grinning like this was funny, too. That shit was not acceptable. “You think this is funny?” he asked incredulously.

“Well, maybe a little, but Marcus, you’re fine. It’s just the medicine. It’s deadened your nerves. All of them. Don’t worry. It will be back.”

He turned back to Lori and gave her thumbs up. “Did you hear that, Baby? I’ll be fine.”

He could see the corners of her mouth quirking up like she was fighting a smile. “I never had any doubt about it.”

He turned back to Malcolm and grinned. “She was impressed by my big sword.”

If all goes as planned, this book will be releasing in November sometime. Here's the Goodreads link for it.

Cover Reveal and Author Giveaways....

Hey everyone!

Long time, no post.

Yikes....sorry about that.

I have a few things to share with you today.

First up...

The cover reveal for WHEN LOVE INTRUDES.

And here's the cover copy for the book....

Toni Vincent’s last relationship ended with violence. Since then, she’s decided she’s better off without men. But when she finds her young seventeen year old neighbor, Nathan, unconscious and beaten, this is one man she can’t abandon. But helping Nathan means trusting Detective Brian Barnes, another man who hurt her in the past. It’s something she’s just not sure she can do.

Detective Brian Barnes has seen one too many criminals beat the system. He’s burned out and regretting a lot about his life. At the top of that list is how he dealt with Toni Vincent when he was wounded. At the time, he couldn't stand to look at himself, much less have someone he failed care for him. Now she needs his help and he refuses to fail her again. But keeping her alive requires keeping his heart out of it. Something not easy to do when trapped in a romantic mountain retreat, even if it is the safest place for Toni and her unexpected charge.

With danger around every corner, it’s hard to know who can be trusted, especially for three people who have been burned before. But they may just find the best family is the one not tied together by blood.
